03 · This week's main issue — Examples of advertisement deliberation violations and misrepresentations of consumers

We share a case in which expressions that can cause consumer misconceptions have been identified in the process of providing project information.

1. medical device advertising violations
Details of report
Supporter reports have been received that the contents different from the approved efficacy and effects are being used in the process of advertising medical devices in the project story.
Details of confirmation
A review of advertising expressions and rewards information within the project identified the product as a licensed medical device for a specific purpose only. However, some expressions in the story have been confirmed to guide efficacy and effects beyond the scope of permission, so we have requested a story correction and taken related measures in consideration of the possibility of misunderstanding consumers.
2. Consumer misidentification report due to the use of award history
Details of report
Although the project story highlights and promotes a specific award history, reports have been received that there is a difference between the key functions evaluated at the time of the award and the actual reward composition, which could lead to consumer misconceptions.
Details of confirmation
As a result of the confirmation, the award history itself guided by the project was objectively confirmed, and it was difficult to see it as a false fact. However, even though there is a difference between the key functions or configurations evaluated at the time of the award and the rewards currently offered, the information is not sufficiently guided, indicating that consumers are likely to perceive the award history and the current rewards equally. In order to clearly guide the scope of the actual offer, we have made a request for correction and action on the relevant expression.
Operational Complement Direction
Based on the above case, Wadiz will continue to monitor to enhance the accuracy and transparency of project information and strengthen the inspection of false and exaggerated advertisements and expressions that are likely to mislead consumers.
