Can I run a global project with food Rewards?

You can ship some processed food Rewards overseas through global projects. However, the export of raw and fresh foods (e.g., meat, dairy products, frozen/refrigerated foods, etc.) is mostly restricted, and only finished processed foods that can be stored at room temperature (e.g., canned goods, retort foods, snacks, etc.) can be exported to some countries.

Q. What foods can be exported?

Foods that can be shipped overseas are limited to processed foods that can be stored at room temperature.
The following items may be impossible or restricted to export.

  • Items not allowed: Refrigerated and frozen foods, products containing meat and dairy products, raw foods, liquids
  • Allowed items: Finished products that can be stored at room temperature, such as canned goods, retort foods, and snacks

※ Import restrictions vary by country/region, so be sure to check in advance.

Q. What should I prepare before exporting?

The following procedures may be required depending on the food import conditions of each country/region.

  • FDA food facility registration (when exporting to the United States)
  • Designation of U.S. Agent (when exporting to the United States)
  • Prior Notice advance notification (U.S. Customs)
  • Attach English labeling
(including product name, weight, ingredient name, expiration date, storage method, manufacturer, allergy information, etc.)

Q. How do export requirements differ by major country/region?

Prohibited items and required documents vary by country/region. Below are some country/region examples.

※ Be sure to check the customs clearance guide for the country/region in advance.

country/region Key requirements
United States FDA registration required/ Import restrictions when including meat and dairy products
Japan Most refrigerated foods such as raw foods and dairy products are prohibited from import
Europe Many cases of customs clearance are not possible for each HS code based on ingredient standards

Q. What information should I include in the Reward information provision notice?

The following items must be included in English so that the supporter can accurately understand the product and there are no problems with customs clearance.

  • Product name / Ingredients / Weight / Storage method / Expiration date / Country of manufacture / Whether or not allergies exist
※ We recommend using Papago, DeepL, or professional translators for translation.

 Q. How is shipping done?

  • Ship using international express services such as DHL and EMS.
  • Customs clearance documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and invoices are essential for export.
  • It is necessary to plan a generous shipping schedule in preparation for customs delays in each country/region.

 Q. Do I, as a Maker, have to do it myself?

Currently, Wadiz does not handle shipping, customs clearance, translation, or labeling for global projects. Therefore, Makers who want to export food Rewards must prepare the following items themselves.

  • Check food import requirements for the country/region of export
  • Prepare required certifications and documents
  • Attach English label
  • Secure appropriate packaging and shipping methods

Q. Checklist before opening a global project

  • Check food regulations in the country/region of export
  • Check food registration requirements for each country/region, such as the FDA
  • Prepare English labels and ingredient lists
  • Check whether storage and packaging conditions are met
  • Prepare international express company usage conditions and customs clearance documents

📌 If you ship food Rewards overseas without prior preparation, there is a risk of customs refusal or product disposal, so be sure to understand and proceed with the export requirements of each country/region.
