03 · This Week’s Key Issue — Cases of Misleading Expressions Regarding Medicines

We are sharing cases where we took action after identifying advertising expressions that could be mistaken for pharmaceuticals or obesity treatments.

1. Use of misleading expressions regarding pharmaceuticals
Report Details
A supporter reported that expressions such as "oral Wegovy," "Wegovy alternative," and "GLP-1" were used in Story ad copy, which could lead consumers to mistake general foods or dietary supplements for pharmaceuticals or obesity treatments, potentially violating the Act on the Labeling and Advertising of Foods, etc.
Verification Results
Upon reviewing the advertising language within the project, we confirmed that expressions were used that could lead consumers to mistake the product for a pharmaceutical drug. Consequently, we determined that there was a potential violation of relevant laws and regulations, requested a revision of the Story, and took appropriate measures; the expressions in question have been corrected.
